What is a two colour attachment?
A two colour attachment, also called a double colour attachment or DC attachment, is a second injection unit that mounts on your existing injection moulding machine. It melts a second colour of plastic and feeds it into the main melt, so every shot comes out in two colours.
It suits any type, make or capacity of injection moulding machine and is used to make two colour household products and plastic furniture with a wooden effect. You keep your machine, your moulds and your floor space, and add a product line that sells at a better price.
How it works
- Mounted on your machine
A mounting frame made for your machine model holds the attachment in line with the main injection unit.
- Second colour melted separately
The attachment has its own hopper, screw and barrel and heater bands, so the second material is melted at its own temperature.
- Joined at the nozzle
The second melt enters the main melt stream just before the mould. How much enters, and when, decides the pattern.
- Normal cycle
The machine runs its usual cycle with your existing mould. Change the ratio and settings to move between marble, flower, wave and wood grain effects.

Attachment or a new two colour machine?
A dedicated two shot machine is a large investment and needs its own floor space, moulds and operators. The attachment turns a machine you already own into a two colour machine, uses your current moulds and pays back from the first premium product you sell. For decorative effects like marble and wood grain, an attachment is the practical choice.
Fitting and support
Every attachment is tested before dispatch. Our team guides fitting and start up and helps you dial in the settings for each effect. Screws, barrels, ring plungers and heaters for the attachment are always available from us.

Which materials can I run?
The attachment is used mainly with polypropylene and polyethylene for household ware and furniture. Tell us your material and we size the screw and heating for it.
Can I still run single colour jobs?
Yes. Switch the attachment off and the machine runs single colour production as before.
